If you’re running into errors when publishing your Copilot Studio agent – especially to channels like SharePoint – here’s a quick fix that can save you time.
🔤 1. Check Your Agent Name Formatting
Copilot Studio is very strict about whitespace.
Your agent cannot have a leading or trailing space in its name:
❌ ” My Agent”
❌ “My Agent “
Only valid format:
✔ “My Agent”
Even a hidden space will stop your agent from publishing.
🧪 2. Using a Trial License and Can’t Publish? Try This Workaround
If you’re on a Copilot Studio trial and receiving a “You don’t have a user license to publish” message – even though the license is assigned – here’s what to do:
1. Go to Power Platform Admin Center
2. Open Tenant settings
3. Find Copilot Studio Authors (preview)
4. Enable it for your security group
5. Refresh your Copilot Studio browser tab
✨ Tip: If publishing breaks again later, repeat this step – sometimes the setting needs to be reapplied.
💡 Hope this helps someone avoid the same headaches!
If you’ve found other workarounds, drop them in the comments. 😊
